Just think...70 odd years ago, these binoculars looked out over here. I wonder if they ever spied my Grandfather - he served in New Guinea during WWII.

Wow. Those were coast watchers or some such name as I recall. That was a dreadful war and it is over but look at all the replacement wars since then. We never seem able to get it right for very long. I guess it is why things like your photo represents as so important. A reminder.
