Don't Change

I hope Ararat never gets fancified.
I love all its make-do fences and corrugated iron sheds and dirt streets.

Op Shop

Op Shop - That's what we call thrift stores here in Australia.
Short for opportunity shop.
This one is down the road at Beaufort.

Let's Blow This Joint

The road out of town.
Still waiting for rain.
Think those sheep might be off to market.

Hey Youse Guys - Over here!! (ADP on holidays)

ON HOLIDAYS

You'll never guess what they are standing in a paddock of.
Go on, guess.

(no, it's not marijuana)
It's ginger!

Theme Day - Yellow (still on holiday)

It's yellow, right?
Very cool shop in Yandina.

And I bought something yellow from there too.

Give Me Sand, Lots of Sand.... (on holiday)

In contrast to the busy geriatric highway of my last post, we have Castaways Beach
(my favourite beach).
Miles and miles of sand and sea.
Perfect.
AND.....it's off leash for doggies!

Up-date on midgey bites -
one in inside corner of eye,
two on outside corner of eye,
one on entrance to left nostril,
one on ear where lobe joins
PLUS five new ones on forehead -
oh yes - my face is a pretty picture at present!
You'd never guess I was lathered in insect repellent from morning to night!

Morning Meeting (on holiday)

Poor neglected Ararat Daily Photo blog.
Encroaching on BitingMidge's territory on the Sunshine Coast.
I'm sure he won't mind for a week or two.
(or maybe he does - I think he has sent the word out to his kin - coz I seem to be COVERED in midgey bites - I'm talking the soles of my feet, behind my ears and smack dab right in the middle of my forehead - very attractive!).

Anyway, early morning walk along the Noosa River.
The old dudes will mow you down if you dawdle - don't worry about the kids on their scooters!
It's a geriatric highway in the morning!

Isn't the difference in grass colour of this photo to my previous photo amazing?
2000km exists between these two points!

18 Days On..............

......and incredibly the fires are STILL burning in Victoria, with an expectation that things will flare up again badly on Friday.
All those poor firefighters (most of them volunteer firefighters) must be utterly exhausted.
It's hard to believe that half of Queensland is under water at the moment.

Anyway, here's a photo of ...... well, I'm not exactly sure.
Probably some sort of hay carrier - he was zooming along a side road
with the wind in his hair having a lovely time.

Aradale Lunatic Asylum

That's what it used to be called in the olden days.
Then it was the Aradale Mental Hospital.
It operated for around 130 years, closing in 1997.
Now it is home to the Australian College of Wine.
It's a strange kinda place.

You can see bit and pieces

Treasure Hunting

So much treasure, so little time.
Who doesn't love a poke around the second-hand dealers?
What's that you say?
You'd rather stick hot nails in your eyes?

Dreamtime

Up on Mt Langi Ghiran, under a sheltered ledge on a huge rocky outcrop,
is a wonderful little secret.
A Koori (aboriginal) rock painting.
I was surprised by how moved I was when I saw it.
